To set the seed, plants have to be pollinated.  This means that pollen is transferred from the male part to the female part of the flower. Then the pollen grain grows down the style to the ovary, where it fertilizes the egg. The fertilized egg (ovule) becomes the seed.  Flowers attract insects to pollinate them with sweet nectar and bright colors.

2 types of pollination in plants:

* Self- Pollinators- these plants are capable of pollinating their own flowers.

* Cross- Pollinators- these are plants that rely on pollen to produce seed. Pollen is transferred by insects and wind.
